The NTC (national telecommunication commission) ordered the cellular phone companies to adopt a load validity time based on the following loads: 10-or-less load – 3 days
10-20 load – 7 days
20-30 load – 10 days
30-40 load – 14 days
40-P50 load – 17 days
50-60 load – 20 days
60-70 load – 21 days
70-80 load – 24 days
80-90 load – 30 days
100-150 load – 45 days
150-200 load – 60 days
200-300 load – 90 days
300-600 load – 150 days
600 to 1,000 load – 180 days This took effect last 2009. Smart load expires as follows: 15, 30 = 15 days 115 = 45 days 300 = 75 days 500 and up = 120 days |

Gmail's chat now comes with a send SMS feature that allows you to send sms to smart and sun networks. You start off with 50 sms credits. If you send out an sms, your credit goes down 1. If someone replies, you get 5 credits back. Not sure yet how much a reply will cost the sender but it is not bad. You can reload by replying to your own message i guess. Cheaper than the 1 peso it costs to reload for some networks. For more details please check out http://www.google.com.ph/intl/en/mail/help/sms.html Update: Replies will cost only 1 peso. With sun cellular, you need to use a regular load to reply and not your unlimited text plan. Your credit maxes out at 50. If you get a reply with 49 credits left, you wont get 5 credits back but just the 1 to fill up the 50 max. |

Globe offers mobile internet that you can be billed for depending on the setting you choose. You can avail of the per kb billing where you will be charged 0.15 centavos per kb or you can set your phone to the time based billing where you will be charged 5 pesos for every 15 minute connection. You can set your phone to time by texting "time" to 1111 or to per kb by texting "kb" to 1111. Rumor has it that if you disconnect or get disconnected and then reconnect even though you have not finished your 15 minutes in time billing, you will be charged another 5 pesos for the next 15 minute connection starting from the time you reconnect. Another rumor says that the 5 peso reconnect is only for prepaid but not for postpaid. Somehow, we get mixed information from different customer service representatives of globe. |
